FAQ
What is the top focus of the team?
The team prioritizes team play and basketball IQ, focusing on collective success over individual scoring, strong fundamentals, significant seasonal growth, camaraderie, and ample in-game playtime for all players.
How is playing time determined?
We intentionally maintain a small roster of 8 to 10 players to increase individual playing time, in contrast to other teams that may have 12 to 15 players at any given time. The coach prioritizes starting players who demonstrate commitment by regularly attending practices.
What does the practice structure / agenda typically look like?
It starts with the fundamentals, such as layups, dribbling, passing, 1v1, and 2v1 defensive skills. It then moves on to team play, including offensive sets and three-on-three, usually incorporating some form of friendly competition (for instance, the “winning” team may not have to do push-ups or liners). The session concludes with scrimmages, accompanied by guided game strategies and specific technical advice for individuals.
Does the team play in tournaments or leagues?
Yes, we participate in local South Bay AAU as well as local NJB leagues year-round.
When are the seasons?
- Fall Season 2024:
- September 1 – November 30
- Winter Season 2024-25
- December 1 – January 31
How many games are there?
- AAU
- Every weekend between 10AM – 2PM
- NJB
- According to NJB schedule, it is usually Sundays.
How long has the team been together?
The team has been together since 2019.
What are the strengths of the team?
There is a strong emphasis on training fearlessness in competition, and for kids to realize that the Coach will set players sites on the stars so they can land on the moon. He has a special focus on defense and hustle. This is a highly intelligent group of kids who understand how to add value to the game. Team chemistry is a significant asset. The coach prioritizes adding team players who are coachable and has successfully led this age group into middle school leagues, winning championships.
